Agateware Tumbler – Blue Turquoise

This style of ceramics is called agateware, derived from the agate stone, which when sliced shows multicoloured layers. The process of mixing colourants into clay is very difficult and requires a lot of time and experience.

This pot is made up of two different colours of stoneware clay and white clay. The clay is thrown on the potter’s wheel to produce unique pieces with unrepeatable patterns.

This tumbler is glazed with a transparent glaze and fired to 1220°C to produce a glossy surface that is waterproof.
